No. 01 Hidden Hikari is ceremonial grade matcha from Japan (100 % matcha, no additives) from Celina's Matcha & Coffee Club, a matcha café in Vienna. One tin contains 40 g. That makes about 13 servings of 3 g each, so approx. €2.99 per serving. Price: €39.90 incl. VAT. Shipping to Austria and Germany or free pick-up at the café on Kolingasse 3, 1090 Vienna. 14-day right of withdrawal.
No. 01 Hidden Hikari tastes mild and balanced. It’s our everyday matcha and works pure as well as in a matcha latte. Also great for anyone new to matcha.
For every day and for matcha lattes, choose No. 01 Hidden Hikari, mild and balanced. For pure matcha with water and more umami, choose No. 02 Rare Jade, our premium matcha. Both are 100 % matcha from Japan in a 40 g tin.
Ceremonial matcha is finely ground Japanese green tea that is mild and fine enough to drink pure with water. Unlike tea bags, you drink the whole leaf. Our matcha is ceremonial grade from Japan, 100 % matcha with no sugar and no additives.
Ceremonial matcha is meant for drinking, culinary matcha for baking and mixing. Ceremonial matcha is bright green, very fine and hardly bitter. Culinary matcha is more bitter, often more yellow and cheaper. Use ceremonial for pure matcha; for a matcha latte both work, but ceremonial tastes rounder.
Per cup you need 3 g of matcha and about 25 ml of water at 75 °C. 3 g is one heaped bamboo scoop or a scant teaspoon. Boiling water makes matcha bitter, so let it cool for a moment. A 40 g tin makes about 13 cups.
Sift the matcha, stir it into a paste with a little water, then whisk. Sift 3 g of matcha into a bowl so no lumps remain. Add 10 ml of water (75 °C) and stir into a smooth paste. Then add another 15 ml of water and whisk with the bamboo whisk (chasen) in W-shaped movements for about 20 seconds until a fine foam forms.
Finely ground Japanese green tea with a mild, balanced taste. Creamy, pleasantly smooth and ideal for your daily matcha. 100 % matcha from Japan.
Free pick-up at the café (Kolingasse 3, 1090 Vienna) or shipping to Austria and Germany. 14-day right of withdrawal. Details under Shipping & payment.

We visited Celina’s Matcha in Vienna and absolutely loved it! The place has such a calm and cozy atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with a drink. The matcha was amazing — smooth, creamy, and full of flavor. The staff were also really friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of the best spots in Vienna for matcha lovers! 💚
For a matcha latte, prepare the matcha as above and add about 150 ml of warm or cold milk. Oat milk and other plant milks work well. For an iced matcha latte, put ice and milk in the glass first, then pour the whisked matcha on top. That’s how we do it in our café.
Yes, matcha contains caffeine because you drink the whole tea leaf. How much depends on the variety and the amount. Many people drink matcha in the morning instead of coffee.
Good matcha is bright green, as fine as powder and smells fresh and grassy. It tastes mild, slightly sweet and hardly bitter. Yellowish or brownish matcha is usually old or of basic quality. Also check that it contains only matcha, with no sugar or milk powder.
Store matcha cool, dry and dark in the tightly closed tin. The best-before date is on the bottom of the tin. Once opened, use it up quickly so colour and taste stay fresh.
You can buy our matcha at celina's café at Kolingasse 3, 1090 Vienna (9th district) and in this online shop. Online orders can be picked up for free at the café or shipped to Austria and Germany.
